HOW TO LAY VINYL PANELS?

If you’re facing the challenge of replacing your floor, you’re likely wondering how to install new panels to ensure they retain their durability and beautiful appearance over time. By choosing the VIN IN brand, you are guaranteed a simple and quick installation, so you don’t have to worry about the process being too complicated. In our post, you will read what you need to keep in mind during the work so that the installed floor will serve you for many years.

INSTALLING VINYL PANELS – WHERE DO I START?

Above all, be careful when transporting and storing the panels. The parcels should be transported horizontally, stacked evenly. Avoid storing in very cold, very warm or very damp places – this can damage the panels. Before starting work, subject the products to a 48-hour acclimatisation period in the room where they will be installed. The temperature should be 18-30°C.

VINYL PANELS WITH PRIMER

VIN IN vinyl floors feature an integrated underlay, which is ideal for underfloor heating and improves room acoustics. You don’t have to worry about finding the right underlay, cutting it, or gluing it, as it is integrated into the board. This solution minimises the risk of errors and reduces the time it takes to lay a new floor.

SUBFLOOR PREPARATION FOR VINYL PANELS

Remember that the substrate in the target room must be clean, dry and free of irregularities. Otherwise, you risk creating gaps and deformations that will damage your new floor. Do not install the panels on a soft, loose or damaged substrate. Remove any coverings such as carpet, needlepoint, soft vinyl and floating floors.

VINYL PANELS WITHOUT GLUE

Another feature that simplifies the installation of VIN IN vinyl panels is the state-of-the-art locking system, which requires no adhesive. Our floors are installed with click clasps. Depending on the collection, the panels are assembled using the UNICLIC, UNIDROP A and B, or 5G Valinge system. Such locks allow the installation of panels in a floating floor system. WHAT IS PERIMETER EXPANSION?

If you’re installing panels with a floating system, meaning they aren’t attached to the subfloor, it’s essential to leave a perimeter expansion gap. This is the gap between the wall and the border of the panels, which should be 8 mm for VIN IN flooring. How do you maintain the expansion gap? When laying the panels, use special shims to ensure the correct distance. Remember that the expansion joint should not be filled, as it has an important function: it allows the floor to ‘work’ naturally when the temperature or humidity in the room changes. The expansion gap should be covered with a cover strip to prevent dust from entering and the edges of the panels from being damaged.

WHAT TOOLS FOR INSTALLING VINYL PANELS?

Depending on the panel collection you choose and the specifics of the room, you will need different tools. Below is a list of useful accessories:

  • measuring tape,
  • pencil,
  • tool knife,
  • a nylon or rubber mallet,
  • shims to maintain the expansion gap,
  • gloves,

HOW TO CUT VINYL PANELS?

Fitting the floor to the room involves cutting the boards to the correct length. Then shorten the panel with a simple cut: face the side with the pattern upwards and use a special cutter for vinyl panels. First, use a pencil to draw a straight line along which the cut will be made. Later, make a confident cut with a knife across the surface. You will find detailed instructions for cutting the panels into herringbone patterns and for cutting the panels into pipes and other shapes in our installation instructions.
